Marcin Wiącek

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Human Rights Ombudsman) since 2021. Professor at the University of Warsaw. He holds the degree of habilitated doctor in law. Head of the Human Rights Department of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. He specializes in constitutional law and human rights.

Since 2019, he has been a professor at the University of Warsaw. In 2003–2007 he worked in the Constitutional Tribunal. In the years 2007-2021 he was employed at the the Jurisprudence Division of the Supreme Administrative Court. In the years 2014–2018, he was a member of the of the Prime Minister’s Legislative Council. In 2014–2016, he was responsible for legislative applications at the Government Legislation Center.  He was also a member of National Committee on Spatial Planning and Architecture. Member of the Center for Research on Legal Aspects of Blockchain Technology, operating within the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. Author of over a hundred scientific publications regarding, in particular, constitutional courts, constitutional justice, administrative justice and the protection of human rights. Participant of numerous scientific conferences, including international ones.
